@Orcinus24x5 You can use an electromagnet thats stronger to get the Ferrofluid, the beauty of that is that you can just turn off the electromagnet when your done.

@killer2611
piercing rings are usually made from titanium, which is not magnetic. you can even put that into an MRI without being ripped to pieces.
e.g. there are special ekg electrodes used in MRIs – they’re also made from / with titanium.

@Orcinus24x5
just use a much stronger magnet wrapped up in foil… that should steal it from the speaker (and makes it easy to remove).

@glaxko2
no, it’s not. sadly.

@fegolem
wow, that’d make one hell of a mess. i’d not try that at home, lol.

@Ralphgtx280
in the inner bit, near the voice coil.

can you do an experiment with this magnet and your mercury?
25.01.2012 um 04:57
Very pretty

Search for “ferrofluid sculpture” on YouTube if you want to see more awesome ferrofluid action.

Wery nice.

Kind of reminds me of a jellyfish moving through the water.

Great job man keep it up, your videos are just so cool!!!

You will find small amounts of ferrofluid in old hard disc drives. It is used in the bearings of the motor spinning the discs there. After removing the shaft you can easily harvest it with a strong magnet wrapped in plastic foil. (This helps to remove the fluid from the magnet afterwards)

cooooool, wo bekommt man ferrofluid?? oder ist es moglich es selbst herzustellem?
25.01.2012 um 08:10
@fegolem … in air or vacuum … ?
25.01.2012 um 08:43
curiosity killed the cat
25.01.2012 um 09:03
@fegolem that would be something to see, i have a friend with some good video equipment, and i happen to have a 3awg x 600 wind magnet that would be perfect for a few seconds of video.

Once again, as soon as i make it across that big-ass ocean i am buying you some dinner and your going to reject my romantic advances to my face. Its a day i look forward to. getting turned down by someone like you would be a high-point in my life.

i have seen a lot of this before, what is the liquid these particles are suspended in, you mention it “drys out” could these micro-particles not be suspended in a high viscosity oil to combat this problem, or in a water based media that could be “maintained’ with some sort of hydration system, like a sponge soaked in water, or if it was used is a constant circulation system low quantity water mix, like the drip function of an IV bag?

@bionerd23 lol i can imagine some blonde going near a 30kg magnet wearing a tongue ring xD
25.01.2012 um 12:52
you mentioned the ferrofluid is used in loud speakers in what part ?
25.01.2012 um 13:38
maybe you can put subtitle
25.01.2012 um 14:19
What is the make of the stand?
25.01.2012 um 15:13
Hallo
was für Fische kann man in die 30L version von dennerle einsetzten ?

Hi!
Schönes Video über das Nano Aquarium! Hast Du eines schon in Betrieb? Auf welcher Messe warst Du da?
